A Conservative equalities agenda
28 September 2020, 5:30pm
The traditional left/right divide has eroded and battle lines have been drawn: now it's about social affiliations, covering race and gender to name a few. Confrontations in this war play out on stages from political elections to the Royal Albert Hall, where a decision not to sing the lyrics of popular anthems turns into a crisis spanning days of media coverage.
Yet the growing divisions in our public discourse do not necessarily reflect a growing intolerance for our social groups. Support for issues like gay marriage and interracial marriage has soared in the last few decades, while racism and other discriminatory attacks are now almost universally unacceptable in the UK.
Join Fraser Nelson in conversation with Kemi Badenoch MP as they navigate the culture wars and the new lines dividing in our society.
